New Year’s Resolutions for Gun Enthusiasts
Take a Shot at These Shooting Goals in 2023
The new year is here, so you better get moving on your resolution(s)!
Are you a gun enthusiast? This year, Pew Pew Guru challenges you to set resolutions that will help improve your skills, develop your proficiencies and take your gun expertise to the next level. Here are some goals to consider aiming for in 2023.
Take a Class
Whether you’re an experienced shooter or just starting out, in-person instruction is the best way to learn new skills and develop your proficiencies. Continuous training is an important part of responsible gun ownership. Not only will our Chicago firearm training, personal protection and security classes help you improve your shooting, but they’re also a great way to get outside, meet new people and learn new things! Pointers from a professional are the best way to take your solo range practice to the next level.
Enter a Shooting Competition
When it comes to shooting a gun, there’s no such thing as too much practice—but that doesn’t mean plinking away at the shooting range doesn’t grow boring after a while. If you’re at this point, it’s time to take your shooting past the shooting range. Put your range practice to work by trying your hand at competitive shooting. If you want to enter a competition, look up a schedule on your phone or text a friend who competes for advice. The options are endless, from shotgun sports and International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), to simply signing up for a match at your local range.
Go Hunting
Interested in learning how to hunt? The best way to get started is to find a mentor—someone who is familiar with the entire hunting process and can help teach you the ropes, safely. The National Deer Association (NDA) can help pair you with a mentor through its Field to Fork program if you don’t know any hunters. Their organized classes and trips make hunting accessible to everyone. The NDA also offers online hunter education courses that will give you a good overview and prepare you for your license.
Try Out New Calibers
Is your gun the right gun for you? Now is the perfect time to experiment with different calibers. To do this, you can either borrow a gun from a friend or you can rent a gun from a range or store, such as Pew Pew Guru. Renting a gun from us gives you the opportunity to test different firearms and find out what you like.
